  Notable News ~

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  Here's to wishing you the luck of the Irish and the charm of a leprechaun.  And an early, happy Easter!

I've added a new page to my website in the Just For Fun section, showcasing some of my favorite short videos currently out there on the internet (most of them from YouTube).   Stop by and have a look by clicking here on videos.  Grab a coffee, settle in for a few minutes, and get ready to smile; they're all about fun.  And don't worry, all of them are rated PG, as my kids visit the site frequently.

Enjoy.

Taming Technology ~   Many authors are now using specially targeted short "commercials" to help sell their books, generally referred to as book trailers.  These mini-movies add another dimension to an author's options for promoting their work, allowing them to use a different medium to reach their current audience, if not reach a new audience all together.

Creating your own book trailer is easier than you think with this simple checklist.

  Centre Stage ~

Of the interesting things you experience being a fiction writer, one of my favorites is getting to know other writers.  This month I'd like you to meet a good friend and wonderful romantic suspense author, Sara Thacker.  We first met online, in a writers' group that focuses on stories with mystery, suspense and romance, all intertwined, but we became much closer at a RWA National conference in Atlanta, when we were roommates.  Please join me in welcoming romantic suspense author, Sara Thacker.

  Healthy Habits ~
Favorite Recipes ~
One healthy habit that our family has been working hard to grow is slowing down enough to have dinner together as a family.  With busy schedules dragging active families in different directions, it's easy to each grab something on your own schedule, rather than sit down together, taking time to talk about daily life and reconnect with each other.  Our goal has been sitting down together at least three times a week (some weeks we're more successful than others).  Here's one family favorite that makes great leftovers for the next day's lunches too!

Nana's Shrimp Casserole

~ 1 cup frozen shrimp (small size, cleaned)
~ 2 to 3 tbsp oil
~ 2 tbsp chopped onions
~ 1 1/3 cups "minute rice"
~ 1 can cream of mushroom soup
~ 3 scrambled eggs
~ 1 cup ham, finely chopped (or canned, similar to tuna)
~ 1 1/4 cups chicken broth
~ 1 cup frozen peas
~ 1 tsp soy sauce

Preheat oven to 350 oF.
Sauté first three ingredients in skillet.
Place remaining ingredients in medium size casserole dish.
Add in shrimp and onion mixture to casserole dish, stirring, and cover.  Bake for 1 hour.
Uncover, and bake for additional 15 minutes, if you want casserole slightly browned.
