Taming Technology ~

I don't think I'm giving away any "guarded writer secrets" when I say writing a four hundred plus page manuscript is hard work.  I will be the first to admit that it's fun work--where else can you talk to your invisible friends, create whole worlds and adventures for them, write it down, share it with everyone you know, and then not get locked up in a nice padded room for doing it?  You can even work from home and wear your pajamas and fuzzy slippers if you want too.

But, I will risk repeating myself and say, it's not easy work.  Remember all those essay tests that you once had to write in school--the ones where you had to use proper grammar, correct punctuation, and appropriate sentence structure?  Now think about writing four hundred pages.  Or even two hundred pages.  Or maybe even just fifty pages.

One online tool many writers I know rely on is AutoCrit Editing Wizard.  The AutoCrit Editing Wizard is part of an online service available that reviews your work, giving you up to fifteen different feedback reports to consider.

To use the AutoCrit Editing Wizard, you copy part of your manuscript into an input form and click on the "Analyze" button.  Depending on which reporting function you have selected, your report will be returned to you, showing overused words, repeated phrases, clichés, or even sentence length and pacing.

Various levels of membership are available with the cost of membership ranging from free usage (you get the first three reports listed above) to silver, gold, platinum, and professional levels.  In addition to the editing wizard, the writing centre also has other writing resources available, like writing ebooks, writing courses, and writing advice.

As most writers know, it's very difficult to see the mistakes or "opportunities for improvement" in your own work.  This tool--AutoCrit Editing Wizard--helps make your editing time much more pleasant and productive.  I run every manuscript page I write through the tool; I will admit, I don't make all the changes the tool identifies, but I do make many of them.  It has helped my writing immensely.
