Six or seven of us are going to the Palisades Centre, Jasper National Park, Canadian Rockies, to write, critique, write, brainstorm, write, laugh, write, eat, write, sleep, write. . .well, you see where this is going. I am thrilled to be included in this group, and of course, it is a beautiful location, regardless of the time of year. September 2007 :: Rumor has it, my writing colleague and friend, Julie Rowe, will be hosting another Novel in 90 session for the Calgary Association of RWA (CaRWA) , starting in September. Sounds like perfect timing with the kids heading back to school on Tuesday, September 4, 2007. In addition, I will be attending a three day, intense writers' workshop given by Robert McKee. August 2007 :: My "new and improved" website is now up and running! I hope you enjoy it. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the changes; please send any feedback here. I'm also a candidate for the Romance Writers of America© (RWA) Board of Directors position of PRO Liaison and I'm very excited about it! For more information on the upcoming elections, visit the RWA website (you will need to sign in to see election information). For my thoughts on the position visit here. If you are eligible to vote for this position, I would be thrilled to have your support! July 2007 :: I'm guest blogging with the Fog City Divas on Friday, July 6, 2007, as one of Brenda Novak's expert guests on the topic of websites. Please join us! June 2007 :: June is a quiet month for me. A month of transition. I will be closing off a few outstanding items such as mailing rosaries to the winners from the charity auction, making notes from teaching my online course on what to change or update for the next offering, reading through the notes from courses I've taken. It's also a month of thinking. I have feedback from several of the submissions I sent off in January. While none of the responses shouted, "I want to buy this," each offered detailed, specific insight into how my work was received. Time to ponder whether to act on the feedback or to push the search in other directions. Regardless of the path I take, I am very thankful for the time and effort given to my work to evaluate and consider it. And I'm thrilled for the "doors left open" indicating that I was welcome to submit again. May 2007 :: I'm once again teaching the online course Everything You've Always Wanted To Know About Having A Website, But Were Afraid To Ask this time for the Mystery and Suspense Chapter of RWA, Kiss of Death (KOD). April 2007 :: Last year I participated in the Brenda Novak annual charity auction for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation by bidding on a number of auctions, including the auction to have Brenda as a mentor for a full year. And as many of you know, I was the lucky winner of that auction. Wow, what a year it has been. This year, I'm getting ready to participate in a different way; I'm donating several items to be auctioned off. During one of my previous creative adventures, I developed a love of unusual rosaries, specifically making them. So, this month I'm designing and creating five different rosaries to be auctioned off. Visit here to see them. January 2007 :: January is submission month for me. I have several requests from agents and editors for my work. I've proof read and polished as much as I can and now it's time to send them out into the world. December 2006 :: December promises to bring a quiet end to a very busy year. Thank you for being a part of it. Here's wishing you the happiest of new years for 2007! November 2006 :: November will find me in Calgary, Alberta, at the Crossing the Publishing Threshold Conference, as well as sending off my Golden Heart entries. October 2006 :: October will include focusing on my entries for the RWA's Golden Heart Contest as well as preparing for the CaRWA conference Crossing the Publishing Threshold. For more information on the Golden Heart, visit the RWA website. The conference takes place November 10 through 12, 2006. For more information on the Crossing the Publishing Threshold Conference visit the CaRWA website. September 2006 :: September will see me again boarding a plane, this time to Victoria, British Columbia. I will be presenting at the Kiss of Death Canadian Retreat Love & Death North of the Border - Suspense that Sells. The retreat will take place from September 29 through October 1, 2006. I will again be presenting on recognizing change. For more information on the Daphne Du Maurier Contest, visit the Mystery and Suspense Chapter of RWA, Kiss of Death (KOD). August 2006 :: This month should finally be quieter than previous months - well, as quiet as any summertime month with three little ones underfoot can be! July 2006 :: July will see my conquering my fears and climbing on a plane. I am presenting two different workshops at the RWA National Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. The RWA National Conference takes place from Wednesday, July 26, through Saturday, July 29, 2006. I will be presenting : ~ Recognizing Change - In
Yourself and In Your Characters June 2006 :: June promises to be a very fast paced month. All entries for the Writer's Voice Contest are due by June 1, 2006, the annual Kiss of Death membership drive will open up (I am one of three membership assistants), and I will be making final preparations for presenting in Atlanta. May 2006 :: May will keep me on my toes with final workshop information for the RWA National Conference being due by mid-month. In addition, I will be participating in a BIAM, or Book In A Month, writing discipline with the Calgary Association of RWA (CaRWA). During this time, my good friend, chapter-mate, and delightful writer of medical suspense romances, Julie Rowe will lead the group in one month of concentrated, focused writing. For more information, contact Julie or visit the CaRWA website.
